One and a half days, 355 patients and 175 believers
Look what the Lord has done!
On Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th July 2009, FOCUS hosted a team of medical workers at the centre in Mulago for one and a half days. This medical mission was aimed at sharing the gospel and offering free medical care for those who cannot afford it especially within the Mulago slum community. The team of doctors was made up of USA, Romania and 6 Ugandans including 2 student doctors.
From 8am to 5pm, the FOCUS Centre was buzzing with noise and lots of people. Some of the moments of waiting were punctuated by the locals with singing.
On day one alone, they were able to see 255 patients of whom 110 made committments to the Lord. Most of the cases seen were women and children with dental, visual and other ailments.
By the end of the second day, a total of 355 patients were seen and received treatment, and a total of 175 made commitments to the Lord.
Most people in the community said they were more than grateful for receiving treatment which is usually too expensive for them to afford. Another large number were turned away because of the overwhelming numbers. This goes to show that the need is vast and therefore what we have just seen and experienced is just a tip of the iceberg!
We thank all volunteers who offered themselves and their time to help with translation, manual work and many of the other activities that were going on in the background. This mission would have been more difficult without YOU!
We celebrate the commitment of these Christian proffessionals who are using their skills in this great opportunity to serve and respond to a pressing issue in our community. Glory to God for the outcome, and let us continue to pray for the discipleship of the new believers.

As a part of the team that came to provide medical care, the blessings we receive are far greater than any that we can provide. Thank you for your hospitality.

Glory to God and thanks indeed to the medical team…! We will continue to seek ways in which to share God’s love with the community around us! Our mandate really is for each to touch the people around his area and sphere of influence! As we each embrace and run within our own circle we shall touch the world!
